Removing Tattoos - Options to get rid of bad looking Tattoo`s

Tattoo Removal Options

tattoo fingersRemoving tattoos is often thought of as being a very painful process.  Although the process of removing tattoos may have been very painful in the past, the technology of today offers different methods of removing tattoos.  Currently, there are two options to remove tattoos that are rapidly becoming more and more popular – laser technology and light based technology.
Both surgeries used light energy to destroy the ink in the tattoo.  The ink in the tattoo will absorb the energy of the light, breaking it up.  Once the ink starts to break up, it can easily be passed through and out of your body through filtering.  In most cases this is extremely safe, as the ink is broken down into micro size to where it can easily pass through the body with no complications.

Removing Tattoos is actually similar to the surgery in which hair is removed.  The surgeon or doctor who performs the surgery will hold a wand to the skin that is being treated.  As he does this, the pulses of light are aimed at the tattoo, breaking up the ink.  The wand is normally held right up against the tattoo, as this makes the pulses of light much more effective.

Normally, the feeling that you”ll experience is best described as an elastic or rubber band flicking constantly against your skin.  If the tattoo is big, the pain could certainly be a bit more intense.  The area where the tattoo is at is also important, as sensitive areas may cause you quite a bit of pain and discomfort.  If the area in which you have the tattoo doesn’t have a lot of muscle or tissue, you”ll more than likely want to be numbed as much as possible before starting the procedure.

Both laser and light based removing tattoos procedures are somewhat similar.  The doctor that is doing the procedure will always apply a cooling gel to the tattoo area that is being treated to cool the skin and conduct the energy of the light.  This cooling gel helps to draw the light, and at the same time protect your skin.  The gel will feel cool to the touch, although it will help your skin when the light pulses start to break the ink apart.

If you’ve been thinking about removing tattoos you should consider both light and laser based procedures.  Keep in mind that they are both expensive, and both impose risks. Depending on how big your tattoo is and what the procedure involves, you may need to spend a night or two in the hospital.  Even though both procedures do offer ways to have your tattoo removed, you”ll need to think long and hard before you make a final decision.

Removal Of Tattoo - Think About It?

June 22nd, 2010

Removal Of  Tattoo – First You Need Your Tattoo, Then You Don`t

tattooA tattoo is supposed to be permanent but what about removal of tattoo?  Sadly, what a person might want today may not be what she or he wants two or twenty years from now. This is why you sometimes do think about removal of tattoo. Each the process of and price of obtaining a tattoo are comparatively minor in comparability to having it eliminated at a later date.  It could probably be smart to think about these facts earlier than visiting the local tattoo artist with design and benefit hand.

Two  of the mostly used strategies for removing an undesirable tattoo are also two of essentially the most unsatisfactory.  The 1st methodology entails removing a bit of skin from a less-noticeable a part of one’s body, and grafting it on top of the tattoo.  This odd form of “cosmetic surgery” covers up the tattoo, but usually leaves scar tissue, as the skin is not in its regular state.  Another wel l- liked methodology is to simply visit a tattoo artist ( Tattoo Remover ) and have another design tattooed over the undesirable one.  With this process, the black define from the initial tattoo will probably be noticeable with the new one;  the bigger the initial, and the more black ink it has, the tougher it will be to cover it.

A surgical technique and that is equally if no more unsatisfactory is recognized as dermabrasion.  In layman’s phrases, you can imagine it as going at the skin with sandpaper.  Even when this removal of tattoo is performed by a licensed physician, you’ll likely resolve of the actual fact that ensuing scar is worse than the first tattoo.  The major reason for the scarring from removal of tattoo is that by using this method means going through the tattoo along with the underlying skin.  The scarring left by this process will go away that portion of your skin a way lighter color and a new texture than the encircling skin.  Of all removal of tattoo strategies presently in practice, dermabrasion is the strategy which will go away essentially the most noticeable scarring.

Excision hardly ever presents a satisfactory alternative, either.  As its identify implies, the excision approach to removal of tattoo consists of having the tattoo surgically lower out of the skin, and the surrounding skin then sewed back together.  The scar will not be as noticeable as one from your dermabrasion technique, however the reasonably ugly excision procedure itself  to a higher level makes up the difference when it comes to a procedure which you will likely not like going through.

Various lotions ( Tattoo Removal Cream ) are offered for removal of tattoo.  Tattoo artists state that they are a waste of time and cash, as they usually do not work.  No matter new concoction is bought under the guise of being a certain method of doing away with a tattoo, a potential customer should remember that since tattoo just isn’t simply on the highest of the skin but deep into its layers, over-the-counter lotions bought because of this objective will do little if any good.  The chemical peel technique which makes use of trichloroacetic acid produces some extent of results, since it actually removes the layers of the skin.

Currently , using lasers is one of the most common strategies for removal of tattoo .  It isn’t so simple as it could sound, however.  First, dependant upon measurement and particulars of the artwork, removal by laser can take up to ten periods so as to obtain a degree of results.  One source states that each session can price between $250-$850 per session.  It has been said that the laser elimination method could be quite painful.

The newest  Removal of Tattoo – method is Intense Pulsated Gentle Therapy.  Even though it is considered being much less painful, and produces higher results than removing by laser, it is also considerably more expensive.

The most typical  sense method of looking at removal of tattoo is that if you’re progressing to purchase a tattoo, you ought to plan on preserving it.  None of the strategies at present for Removal of Tattoo are bound to produce passable outcomes, and people who show any quantity of success in the final outcomes can be expensive.

DIY home tattoo removal methods?

ok, I went to a party, got drunk and woke up with a stupid little tattoo on my arm. I really want to get rid of it, but I am a broke student. The idiot who did it says it is a home-made tattoo, done with india ink and a needle. I read that if I tattoo over it with a salt water solution, it will disapear.

Does anyone know some cheap  home tattoo removal methods that I can do on my own? I am a college student and $50 is too expensive (reeeealy broke!).

any feedback appreciated

Ah crap… Regretting last night’s tattoo?

Okay, heres the deal. Last night I got bored and sterilized a safety pin and got a bottle of “Speedball: Pigmented acrylic ink” (Acid free, waterproof, and permanent), and did the number 7 on my ankle (its my lucky number). Its about an inch and a half lengthwise and an inch wide. Im hoping I can get this off because I would rather wait for a professional one. Anyway I can get it off quickly? I just did the poke with ink on the tip method. If  i cant do  home tattoo removal methods anyone know a product i can buy at wally world or somethin?

Patricia answers:

Your best bet would be just to go to the tattoo shop and get it covered up. They can do it so it looks like nothing was ever there to begin with. Don’t try home tattoo removal methods. It can cause an infection and intense scarring.

How can a Tattoo be Removed?

Does anyone know some effective old-school home tattoo removal methods of removing a tattoo? I am 100% against wasting money on laser removal. I am fine with home tattoo removal methods…

Patricia answers:

There is no more effective treatment than laser. Sorry, but you’d be risking alot trying to do home tattoo removal methods on your own. Colours and shading are placed at different depths in the dermis. Black is easiest to remove, white is harder, it tends to go gray sometimes with removal. Play it safe and use laser.

Ken asks…

Has anyone tried using TCA acid peels for removing tattoos?

Im currently researching home tattoo removal methods, and have found a couple of listings on e-bay selling at-home kits of varying strength TCA’s, the same as used by cosmetic surgeons for facial rejuvenation peels, to remove tattoos with a number of treatments. I’ve traced the US salon using the products, and they seem legit: street address, phone # etc. Just wondering if anyone has taken the plunge and tried this method??

Home tattoo removal

Patricia answers:

TCA is a VERY strong acid. The facial peels should only be done by a Dr. You can cause hypo or hyper pigmentation or 3rd degree burns.
I have never heard of TCA being used to remove tattoos, and I used to work for a Dermatologist, we did lot’s of TCA peels. I think laser is probably your best bet.

Lisa asks…

Best tattoo removal method?

I’m thinking about getting a tattoo of mine removed for personal reasons.
I know about lasers treatments, but was wondering how effective they were, and if there are other–better–methods of removal.

Some facts about my tattoo:
-It’s small, my thumb can basically cover most of it.
-It’s all black.
-It’s in an area where light almost never hits it, so it hasn’t faded.
-I’ve had it for 3 or 4 years. I think 4.
-I’m naturally pale. Think Anne Hathaway or Mary Louise Parker.
-My body is pretty good at healing itself.
-I’m healthy.
-I do have sensitive skin though.

From what I’ve read, light skin + black tattoo =greatest success. But can it go away completely? Or will it just be faded? Any tips for how to find the appropriate doctor/technician for best tattoo removal method?

Patricia answers:

That may be small enough for a plastic surgeon to cut out. The wound would then be stitched up. Should be an office procedure. A good plastic surgeon would leave little to no scar.

Linda asks…

Self Best Tattoo Removal Methods?

I know it’s not advised, and certainly not considered smart to attempt to remove a tattoo on your own, however, I’m still asking the question. I have a very small tattoo of my ex-husband’s name on my wedding ring finger (loooong story) and I want it off as soon as possible. The closest place I could go to for laser tattooremoval is an hour drive away, and so going for 5-6 sessions, and paying almost a hundred dollars per session isn’t even close to ideal for me.
Since the tattoo is small, and scarring in that particular place wouldn’t really be very noticeable in the future, and considering I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, I’m wondering what the best tattoo removal method on my own would be? Could I simply use a buffing block and slowly scrape it off?
Any help would be appreciated!

Best Tattoo Removal Method

Patricia answers:

Best tattoo removal method before laser removal was Dermabrasion–basically sanding it off. I know one gal who removed a homemade tattoo with a wire brush followed by soaking in epsome salts. She managed not to get a scar. I also saw a website from a man in his 70′s who successfully removed a tattoo without scaring. He used a dremel tool and it’s wire brush attachment. He’d soak it over night in alcohol, then coat it with a triple anti-biotic ointment. He’d gently (I suppose that’s relative.) scrub. He’d allow the tattoo to heal between sessions. One gal a few weeks back was trying scrubbing for five minutes with a pumice stone, soak in hydrogen peroxide until it bubbled (that’s what she said, but I’d think you’d want to soak until it quit bubbling.). The site she said she saw this on didn’t say how long to wait between sessions.

William asks…

Who can I find to do a tattoo removal by excision?

The laser is not an option. My tattoo is small and almost all green and blue, it would take many many treatments for my tattoo to react if it did at all. I do not have the time or money for this. No place I have called does any other forms of tattoo removal besides laser. Would a regular surgon do an excision? How could I find someone that does? I am not concerned by the scarring and I honestly think it would be the best tattoo removal method for me.

Best Tattoo Removal Method

Patricia answers:

I am doing the same thing looking for best tattoo removal. I have emailed a few of the cosmetic surgeons in my area and have settled on one and booked a consultation. I needed a referral from my gp to see the specialist doctor and please be aware these ARE specialists and sometimes book months in advance. My consultation is not until september and you also need to be prepared for the price of the initial consultation which is usually quite high. A tattoo removal will be costly (although excision and dermabrasion are not as costly as laser) and the cost is not usually covered by health cover. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Steven asks…

Tattoo removal  and laser hair removal question, before and after?

So Im planning to get my second tattoo done on my left arm, it will wrap down like sort of a ribbon, thus covering a lot of area, down to the wrist. I have another tattoo on the inside of the wrist and i have no hair there so when i got it there was no problem. But this time the guy will shave my whole arm in, and i was thinking about getting the hair removed by laser before i get the tattoo done. Except it will take lots of time, about 4 sessions, and of course $$$$. so i wanted to ask, would it be okay to get the tattoo and THEN get the hair removed? Will it mess up my tattoo or is it safe? Because for now i can just keep shaving the arms but dealing with stubble sucks. I cant afford the hair removal right now, its over $1500. my hair is blonde and hardly noticeable but it shines so bad in the sun and generally wont look good with tattoo underneath. Any help please?!

tattoo removal

Patricia answers:

I’m not sure if the laser tattoo removal would bother the tattoo…i would think that it might. If you are worried about the hair removal just wax the hair before you go in. That way you will have like 2 weeks until it grows back and your tattoo should be healed by then too. I have a large tattoo on my upper arm and had to shave it before i went in for my tattoo…when it grew back it didn’t grow in any thicker and it doesn’t hide the tattoo at all or take away from it in any way. Good luck…sounds like your tattoo will be neat :)

Laura asks…

Tattoo after laser removal?

Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible to tattoo skin that has already had laser tattoo removal?

I have a tattoo on my back and was hoping for a change

Once I’ve done laser tattoo removal, will the skin take ink like it did before? Or will a new tattoo over the lasered area actually appear scarred and/or discolored?

Thanks

tattoo removal

Patricia answers:

Actually many people have their tattoo lightened with laser so they can re-tattoo it with something new.

I am not saying this is okay to do routinely – it’s not like buying new shoes, but it is certainly an option. In fact, many times people NOT intending to have another tattoo after laser come in for one because they don’t like how the laser has left their skin with things such as incomplete removal and/or abnormal lightening of their own skin tone.

At any rate, the skin must be fully healed – I would say at least three months.

Jenny asks…

Laser hair removal before or after the tattoos?

Im finishing my right arm piece by piece until its a full sleeve, the thing is my style is black and grey tattoos, my arm hair is white, so the hairs make the black in the tattoos look like it has cracks in it. Like a stone type effect or something is how one person put it when they saw my tattoos. They thought that it was supposed to look cracked all around it. I shaved my arms and love how it brought my tattoos back to life. But I dont want to always have to shave my arms, Id rather just get the hair lasered off permenatly. Im wondering, will getting it lasered off effect the tattoos I already have in any way? I dont mind getting the ones I already have touched up if I have to, but Id hate to get the whole sleeve, then get the hair lazered off and have touch up my whole arm! Thanks for any help.

tattoo removal

Patricia answers:

Lasers hair removal would have to be before the tattoos. For obvious reasons the laser can simply have a detrimental effect on your tattoo. It’s the same principle with lasers being using to tattoo removal. Lasers + tattoos = not good hence it’d be best to have it done before.
